HAPPENING EXPERIENCE
Happening is a program for high school youth (10th through 12th grades) and youth leaders. During the two day weekend, candidates experience the love of our Lord as shown through the sacraments and the ministry of fellow students, clergy and lay adults. Those who attend Happening are encouraged to take their faith back into the world to make a friend, be a friend, and bring a friend to Christ.

FORMAT OF THE PROGRAM
The young adult who is the "rector", teenagers, adults and the clergy who make up the "staff" spend weeks working and praying together in preparation. The Happening takes careful planning because the time is short and the subject extensive. The titles of the talks indicate some of their content: Reality, Faith, Grace, Sacraments, Piety, Jesus Christ and the Apostolate. Following the talks the Happeners discuss them in smaller groups.

ENCOUNTER WITH CHRIST
A Happening is an encounter with Christ. That sounds simple, but is it? Think about it. A real meeting with Christ. The power, beauty and joy of being with Him. Interested??? Join us!

WHO CAN ATTEND?
Any baptized Episcopalian in the 10th, 11th or 12th grades. EYC sponsors and youth leaders are also encouraged to attend. A few people from other Christian denominations who have been baptized, may also be accepted on each Happening.

HISTORY
The first Happening weekend was held in what are now the Dioceses of Dallas and Fort Worth in July, 1975. Since that time, Happening has spread to over 75% of the dioceses of the Episcopal Church in the United States, to the Church of England, to South Africa, Mexico, Costa Rica and to the Lutheran Church. Happening continues to reach more teens each year.
